P&O Cruises ship, Iona, features a new design that was the first of its kind in the cruising industry.
To help Iona achieve its aim of bringing the outside in, the SkyDome is uniquely designed to do exactly that.
With its glass dome roof and spacious layout, passengers will be able to soak up the natural light when present in the SkyDome.
SkyDome sits on two decks; deck 16 is where you’ll find the action happening, with food and drink available, as well as a swimming pool, sun loungers and whirlpools.
If you want to get that little closer to the natural light, deck 17 is where you want to be.
This deck also features a bar and seating area, making it the perfect relaxation spot in the day or for watching the on board entertainment in the evening.
The designers of the glass dome roof, award-winning British engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, commented the following:
“SkyDome gives guests a spectacular feeling of connection with the ocean and sky.
The design is so beautiful, and the materials used to construct it are of such high quality, that I have no doubt people will be awed by it.”

Iona’s SkyDome By Day
From as early as 7am, you’ll be able to relax poolside with a coffee in your hand and a stunning sea view to gaze into.
When the temperatures are starting to rise, the SkyDome is the optimal location to soak up the sun either on sun loungers or in the pool.
After you’ve caught the morning rays, you can enjoy a relaxed lunch where you can choose from the grill, pizzeria, street food and a selection of premium ice cream from Sundaes.
After lunch, you can catch a glimpse of the aerial performers rehearsing or enjoy an intimate live music performance with a drink in hand.
Iona’s SkyDome By Night
The SkyDome comes alive in the evening to create a dynamic ambience where guests can enjoy an array of entertainment.
You’ll witness the swimming pool transform into a stage for the nights entertainment and the aerial acrobats use the SkyDome’s height to their advantage.
SkyDome continues to offer informal dining options in the evening, where you can serve yourself salads, fresh pizza and regional dishes.
If you’re looking for something to drink, the Laguna, Crystal and Sky bars all offer a selection of cold and hot drinks to fulfill your needs.
After the shows have finished, SkyDome transitions into a party night where DJs will play while you dance under the night sky.
